To create a safe place for lupus warriors in Africa with a goal of bridging the gap between Lupus patients, rheumatologists, other healthcare providers and the government.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks healthy tissues in the body because it confuses it as foreign. So, basically, the immune system is doing exactly what it is not supposed to do; which can cause diseases of the skin, heart, lungs, kidneys, joints and nervous system. 90% of Lupus patients are women. There is no known cause of Lupus and also no cure. The only way to manage it, as at now, is via medication and conscious living.
We want Lupus warriors to not only feel safe in our support groups, but to also find their strength and lend their voice in driving awareness. We want to curb discrimination in the workplace by influencing labour laws that protect warriors. We want to lobby, negotiate and partner with HMOs to provide affordable healthcare to warriors. We know lupus does not have a cure so we want to be at the forefront raising money to fund research to find a cure.
Living with Lupus is already hard as it seems because there is alot beyond our control. So we have decided to create massive impact in the things we can control.
